Platana is a small seaside village on the way to Kimi, just before reaching the beach of Kymi. It is very picturesque and amphitheater. On the beach there are cafes and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy coffee or lunch, respectively, looking at the blue waters. The village has a small beach where you can swim in there if you want or you can visit the nearby beaches are enough. Platana is the youngest village of the Municipality of Kymi. The picturesque beach with its traditional houses and the historic “Mouragio” but the mouth of the river’s dark in the stone bridge and ducks floundering in the water are some of the many attractions of the village.
In the previous years there were lots of olive groves in the surrounding area, from where the inhabitants used to gather the olives and later transferred them to the oil press of the village in order to produce olive oil. The sea front in the coast of Platana was constructed in in 1860 and is considered to have been the bay used by the inhabitants of ancient Kymi.
